MBSR-TT Calendar


2019 - 2020 Cohort

September 1st, 2018: We start accepting applications for the program. Final dates and MBSR Practicum assignments will be arranged after your acceptance to the program.

Year 1, Winter Quarter

Week of January 20th, 2019 - MBSR Classes with spots for MBSR-TT Practicum Students are expected to begin on the following dates as final scheduling is completed this page will be updated. See also our MBSR listings page for the latest on MBSR scheduling.

  • Tacoma: Tuesday evenings
  • Kirkland: Wednesday evenings 
  • Seattle: Wednesday mid-day and Thursday evenings.
  • Bellingham: Monday or Tuesday evenings TBD.
The all-day Day of Mindfulness sessions will be held:
  • Bellingham: Saturday February 23
  • Tacoma: TBD
  • Bellevue: Saturday March 3
  • Seattle: Saturday March 3
  • Woodinville: Saturday March 10
You will attend one of these Days of Mindfulness, ideally the one assigned to your embedded class but there is some flexility.

Winter quarter classes complete during the week of Sunday March 10. For example if you were embedded in the Tuesday evening Tacoma MBSR class it would begin on Tuesday January 22nd and end 8 weeks later on Tuesday March 12th.  Full and final dates will be provided when we have them.

Year 1, Spring Quarter

Week of Sunday April 7th, 2019: MBSR Classes with spots for MBSR-TT Practicum Students are expected to begin on the following dates:
  • Tacoma: Tuesday evenings
  • Kirkland: Wednesday evenings 
  • Seattle: Wednesday mid-day and Thursday evenings.
  • Bellingham: Monday or Tuesday evenings TBD.
The all-day Day of Mindfulness sessions will be held:
  • Bellevue: Saturday May 11th
  • Woodinville: Saturday May 11th
  • Bellingham: Saturday May 18th
  • Seattle: Saturday May 18th

Spring quarter classes complete during the week of Sunday May 26th.

Year 1, Summer Quarter

No planned MBSR-TT programs but you may choose to take advantage of other Mindfulness Northwest classes or retreats.

Year 1, Fall Quarter

Week of Sunday September 22nd, 2019: MBSR Classes with spots for MBSR-TT Practicum Students are expected to begin on the following dates:
  • Tacoma: Tuesday evenings
  • Kirkland: Wednesday evenings 
  • Seattle: Wednesday mid-day and Thursday evenings.
  • Bellingham: Evening TBD.
The all-day Day of Mindfulness sessions will be held:
  • On November 2nd, 9th, and 16th - dates and locations TBD.

Fall quarter classes complete during the week of Sunday November 17th and note that our Fall MBSR schedule includes a skip week - during the week of October 13-20 we host our annual 7-day silent Roots of Mindfulness Retreat. MBSR-TT participants are warmly invited to attend but it is not directly included in the MBSR-TT program.

2019-20 Cohort Application (available September 1st)

General Pattern:

Our training year begins in January and proceeds quarterly as follows:

Year 1

Winter Quarter: MBSR Practicum Course #1 - late January through the mid-March.

Spring Quarter: MBSR Practicum Course #2 - mid-April through the end of May.

Summer Quarter: Not formally scheduled for MBSR-TT but opportunities to take additional mindfulness classes with Mindfulness Northwest and to participate in our annual 5-day Roots of Compassion silent meditation retreat in late August are available as are 2 to 3 Days of Mindfulness in July and August.

Fall Quarter: MBSR Practicum Course #3 - late September through mid-November (ending before Thanksgiving).

Year 2

Winter Quarter: You schedule and implement MBSR course #4 in your community with support from a Senior Teacher Mentor. Late January through the end of March is a good general recommendation based on our experience but the scheduling is up to you.

Spring Quarter: You schedule and implement MBSR course #5 in your community with support from a Senior Teacher Mentor. Mid-April through the end of May is a good general recommendation based on our experience but the scheduling is up to you.

Summer Quarter: You might choose to schedule one of your Year 2 MBSR courses in the Summer. We generally find attendance in the Pacific Northwest is lighter in summer however. Or take time for your own practice and studies by taking a class, attending a retreat, or taking a deep break from formal training.

Fall Quarter: You schedule and implement MBSR course #6 in your community with support from a Senior Teacher Mentor. Late September through mid-November is a good general recommendation based on our experience but the scheduling is up to you. Working with your mentor you will focus on taking video recordings of yourself teaching for your Certification Portfolio during this class.

Certification

After completing MBSR course #6: assemble your portfolio for submission. Further details will be provided on how to complete this process leading to becoming a Certified Teacher of MBSR.
