An accessible, in-depth training in mindfulness in Kirkland.
Are you interested in mindfulness and its potential for enhancing health and well-being? Are you under stress? Are you struggling with chronic conditions such as chronic pain, depression, and anxiety? Are you feeling as if life is too much? Or do you simply want to live a fuller life with greater balance?
Join us for our most accessible in-depth training in mindfulness. This class is a great way to get started with mindfulness training. Our 4-week (5 meeting) Fundamentals of Mindfulness class is based on the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction class, offering essential learnings and practices in a shorter time frame.
Research over the last ten years has shown Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to reduce chronic pain and boost the immune system; to address painful mental states like anxiety and depression; to promote well-being and reduce emotional reactivity; to increase attention and focus; and to enlarge the brain in the areas of decision-making, flexibility and empathy.
Our multi-week course in mindfulness that promotes stress reduction, health, self-awareness and well-being. This highly participatory, practical course includes:
- Guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices
- Gentle stretching and mindful yoga
- Inquiry exercises to enhance awareness in everyday life
- Group dialogue and small group exercises
- Daily home assignments
- Guided audio files for home practice
- A 40-page workbook with short readings, a guide to the course, and resources to support your ongoing investigation of mindfulness
This course is derived from the well-researched, 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course designed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and the Center for Mindfulness at the UMass Medical Center.
