Pain is a complex experience of distressing sensations, along with emotions and thoughts that can actually ramp up the pain.
By practicing mindfulness as well as positive emotions, such as compassion, happiness, joy and gratitude, we learn to reduce our emotional and mental reactions to the pain. In the process, physical distress lessens, and we create new neural pathways which lead to greater awareness, emotional resilience, health, and well-being.
Join Richard Johnson to explore meeting pain mindfully in this monthly support group. We’ll engage in practices shown to bring relief from the cycle of reaction to chronic pain. Expect guided meditations, a short talk, and group discussion in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. All are welcome to join this community of practice.
