PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center’s Continuing Medical Education department and Mindfulness Northwest are happy to continue to provide this program to enhance the health of regional healthcare professionals.

Join us in an investigation of mindfulness from the inside out. Mindfulness for Healthcare Professionals is based on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). MBSR is the best researched mindfulness intervention with positive research indications for:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety while working
  • Reduced burnout
  • Improved communication and relationships with patients
  • Better patient outcomes
  • Improved communications and relationships with co-workers
  • Improved focus and creativity
  • Greater job satisfaction

Designed for busy healthcare workers, Mindfulness for Healthcare Professionals (MHP) offers a deep taste of mindfulness training in a shorter 5-week period. This course has been offered to providers at University of Washington Medical, Evergreen Medical Center, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Providence Health and several other Puget Sound medical centers.

I feel very grateful for this class. It provided the space and time to intentionally slow down, tune inward, and pay attention to my body, heart and mind. Connecting with other healthcare professionals who are also on the path of introspection and self-care felt very supportive. The work we do caring for others is deeply meaningful but can require a lot of energy. The class provided a safe container to rejuvenate, ground myself and show up in my life in a healthier, wiser way.

“I want to add my endorsement for the online provider MHP class. MHP changed my life both professionally and personally. It gave me perspective which I had lost over time and due to chronic fatigue. This class can allow one to build emotional resilience in ways that nothing else does.”

Teacher

Beth attended the University of Washington School of Medicine and had an academic anesthesiology career until physical issues prompted her to step back from her career. She studied pilates, and through this system embraced moving mindfully. She was drawn to meditation several years ago and found it meshed naturally with her approach to teaching movement: turn focus inward to listen to, and befriend, one’s self. From this place, growth and healing are possible.

As health care workers, we are stretched a hundred different directions at the same time, then exhausted with charting and terrible at finding time for self care. I was worried I would fidget and not be able to sit still, but the resulting calm I felt was shocking. I strongly recommend every medical worker to do this course, it truly is life changing.
