Join Mindfulness Northwest instructor Beth Glosten for a half-day immersion in Nature Meditation. Let nature’s sensory offerings invite you to embrace this moment! Tune to the myriad sounds, sensations, smells, and visuals present in the woods and fields. Pause and take in the beauty of nature; let it awaken your natural ability to listen, feel, and sense.
This deliberate time outside offers lessons from the natural world: impermanence, gratitude, patience, resilience, reciprocity, and connectedness. Our lives are mirrored in the challenges and changing dynamics of the natural world. Let’s connect to the mystery of life and feel a part of the world around us.
This half-day retreat will be spent mostly in silence, with opportunities for questions and comments. As such, having some meditation experience is helpful.
This retreat will take place, rain or shine, at Seward Park in Seattle, WA, at picnic shelter no. 2 (map). The shelters are open on all sides and include several picnic tables and benches on a concrete floor. There is a public bathroom a short walk from the shelter.
WHAT TO BRING (Mindfulness Northwest is unable to provide chairs, mats, or refreshments):
- Adequate clothing to stay comfortable; consider bringing a blanket, raincoat and hat, and other warm layers, depending upon the forecast.
- Anything you’ll need to sit comfortably in meditation, such as a chair or a cushion (perhaps in a trash bag to protect from the concrete floor or wetness).
- Adequate footwear - we will do several periods of walking meditation on nearby paths and a grassy field. Please wear footwear suitable for uneven surfaces and/or possible wet grass.
- Snacks and water or other beverage you might want. While we won’t specifically take a break for a meal, you can grab a snack during the walking practices.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Beth Glosten, M.D.
(she/her) Teacher
Beth attended the University of Washington School of Medicine and had an academic anesthesiology career until physical issues prompted her to step back from that hectic life. She studied pilates, and through this system embraced moving mindfully. She was drawn to meditation several years ago and found it meshed naturally with her approach to teaching movement: turn focus inward to listen to, and befriend, one’s self. From this place, growth and healing are possible. This journey led her to Mindfulness Northwest where she completed both of our teacher training programs and became certified as a teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Beth particularly appreciates being able to serve fellow healthcare providers in our Mindfuless for Healthcare program.
